Is the new Wii sensor bar a lot better than the original and what or how many games can you use it on?
This sensor bar that came with my Wii, which I got a few months after launch of the Wii, is OK. It doesn't pick up on fine movement. I heard there was a new sensor bar that is more accurate. Wondering if it's worth buying if it works on a lot of games. If not I dont see the point in buying it.
The sensor bar does not contain any sensors at all. It's just 2 sets of Infra-red LEDs. The camera in the Wii Remote sees them as 2 points of light and can judge distance, angles, etc... You can even set 2 candles on your TV instead and it will still work.
So, no, there's no need in getting a new sensor bar. The Wii Motion Plus however, will make controlling some games much more accurate. Also, make sure there are no bright light sources behind or right beside your TV, as these can throw off your Wii Remote making them less accurate.
