Is the Wii DDR dance pad in the bungle any good? Are extension cables really needed?
Can someone help me with the Wii DDR? I am getting it for my girls for Xmas and want to get an extra dance pad, how good is the one that comes with the bundle and which do you recommend? Also are extension cables really needed? I have been checking out this site... http://www.ddrgame.com/wiidancepad.html for the dance pad and they all look the same to me. Any recommendation?
I bought the regular bundle for DDR at Best Buy for $69. I don't know about the other pads, but I've played the professional versions of the game at video arcades before and it seems to me the one that came with my bundle works every bit as well.
I've only had it for about a month though, so I don't know how well it will hold up over the long term. It's my absolute favorite game and I've been playing it every day, for hours on end--so far, so good though, and and original replacement mats only run roughly $20. Also at this time, the game also only comes with 50 songs so unless additional songs for download are made available, I'm not even entirely certain whether the game will outlast the pad that came with it. Considering all that, don't know that I'd bother making the investment in a more expensive pad, at least not initially.
As far as extension cords go? Well, I think that depends on the size of the TV they will be playing it on, and how many people will be playing it at one time.
The cord that comes with the original pad is 8' long, and as I play by myself using a 36" TV, it's plenty long enough.
I would think that would also be plenty long enough for 2 people using 2 separate mats to play at the same time using a similar sized or even slightly larger TV.
However, you can plug up to 4 mats into the Wii Console for allow up to 4 players to all play together simultaneously, and for that, I don't think 8 feet of cord each would be long enough. They would probably be long enough for 2 of the mats, but for the additional 2, you would probably need 2 extension cords to properly spread them all out far enough apart.
Also, if they will be playing on a very large TV, for example a 60" projection TV or larger, then they may want to stand a little further back than the 8' of cord that comes with the dance pad will permit.
