Wiimote Wireless

but although it works perfectly on the Wii menu when I go into the game although the sensor bar is still powered I cannot point on the screen(this is something that doesn't happen with the normal one).

I find this to be really strange since I was under the impression that the sensor bar doesn't do anything but providing an infrared signal and all the signal transmition is done by the wiimote. The thing that I find to be extremely strange is that it works perfectly when I am out on the menu but it doesn't work at all in the games!

Any ideas why this happens?
